Brad began his racing career at the age of 9 in 1989.  Brad and his family started out racing in local karting events. They then made they move to modified midgets in 1993 and then full size winged sprint cars in 1998.  Things changed for Brad after he graduated from college in 2003.  He accepted his first job in eastern Iowa, but this meant an end to Barickman Motorsports.  However, Brad was able to find a ride at the famed Knoxville Raceway, driving for Steve Wares.  2005 brought another big change for Brad.  He accepted a job in Plymouth, Minnesota, so this again meant no more racing.  Once again Brad was determined to find a ride and hooked up with Dave Tabor and Margaret Wisswell midway through the 2005 season to run their 360 sprint car throughout Minnestoa.
